I have photographed several Crow Tribe events over the past 10 years.  This was an especially historical trip for the tribe because in 2008 they adopted Barack Obama into their tribe. Obama’s adoptive parents, Mary and Hartford Blackeagle were special guests of Barack Obama at the Inauguration ceremonies. Along the way, the Crows stopped at Fort Laramie in Wyoming for a prayer service to rember their signing of a treaty with the US government in the 1850′s. In a picture below of that prayer ceremony, Carl Venne, the elected tribal chief can be seen in the center of the image holding his white hat. Sadly, Carl died unexpectedly  February 15, 2009.
