Breckenridge Wedding for Robyn & Joe

A June wedding is suppose to be filled with sunshine so Robyn and Joe brought their own sunshine when Mother Nature decided the Breckenridge mountains needed some rain. The outdoor event at Grand Timber Lodge was moved inside for a love filled ceremony and the reception at Beaver Run Resort was filled with laughter. Colorado Twin Lakes Wedding for Nicki and Aaron

Between Aspen and Leadville, Colorado are the last two glacier lakes in the state, Twin Lakes, Colorado where Nicki and Aaron had a most amazing Rocky Mountain high wedding. The day could not have been more beautiful and we were blessed to witness and photograph the day. New Mexico Wedding for Marisa and Daniel

Elizabeth and I had the most enjoyable time photographing Marisa and Daniel’s wedding in Los Lunas, New Mexico with a reception at The Isleta Casino in Albuquerque. A gorgeous day added to the beauty of this lovely couple, their fun bridal party and their amazing families and friends. A wonderful backdrop of the day was the Rio Grande River that we used for some fun bridal party shots. Little Raven & 15th St, Denver Engagement Shoot

I met up with Aaron and Nicki just east of Downtown Denver for an engagement shoot. Aaron and Nicki are an adventuresome couple who will have their wedding early this summer near Leadville, Colorado. I had a great time photographing this wonderful attractive couple just walking around the Little Raven area. here are some of my favorite pics from the shoot.

Rocky Mountain National Park & Della Terra Mountain Chateau Wedding

Wow! What an adventuresome couple in Rachael and Ethan who decide to brave the elements and romp in Rocky Mountain National Park before their outdoor wedding in winter conditions at Della Terra Mountain Chateau in Estes Park. Both Rachel and Ethan have their season passes to RMNP so they felt they wanted to incorporate a trip to the park on their wedding day. Fortunately, I’m one of only a handful of professional photographers who is credentialed to photograph in the national park, so things worked out well.

The staff at Della Terra once again rose to the occasion and made everyone feel comfortable in the outdoor ceremony setting by providing blankets to those who needed them. The flower girls thought it was all fun. After the ceremony, the indoor coziness of the chateau made for an enjoyable evening for all.

Denver Grand Hyatt Hotel Wedding for Stephanie & Ramsey

We had the honor of photographing a fabulous March wedding at The Denver Grand Hyatt for a super couple, Stephanie & Ramsey.

The amenities of The Grand Hyatt were superb for our couple getting ready, having the ceremony, cocktail hour and reception all in one location. The 38th floor Pinnacle Club was a spectacular setting for the evening activities.

For extra photo opps we took the men to a near-by dive bar, the ladies for a stroll down to 16th Street Mall and after the wedding we took the bridal party on another walk to the nearby Byron White Federal Courthouse. Assisting me was my lovely wife Elizabeth and my dear friend and great photographer, Kent Meireis.

The staff at The Grand Hyatt led by Marta in catering made everything flow effortlessly.

Wild Basin Lodge Wedding, Allenspark, Colorado

Evergreen, Colorado Home Wedding for John & Michelle

This past season we photographed a most amazing in-home wedding n Evergreen, Colorado for one of my favorite couples of all time Michelle and John. The wedding was conceived and executed with warmth, intimacy and nostalgia. Michelle wore John’s grandmother’s wedding dress from the 1930′s that John’s mother also wore in the 1970′s. Then to put a modern twist on things Michelle changed into a very contemporary dress for the intimate dinner party. Orchestrating everything behind the scenes with the hand of a maestro was wedding planner Kristen Samz of A Current Affair Weddings and Events . Helping me capture the breath taking moments moving past our eyes was my dear friend and world class photographer Joyce Keum of Studio JK . 2nd Place Print Award at WPPI 2010 in Las Vegas

WPPI is one of the largest annual photography shows in the world, held in Las Vegas usually in March. Last week, while attending, along with 14,000 professional photographers from around the world I was honored with a 2nd place award in the 16×20 print competition for non-wedding photojournalism with the attached photo, titled “1st Chemo for Hollis”.

The award was bittersweet since Hollis is my 29 year old son who is fighting a very aggressive lymphoma cancer.

I was also honored with an Excellent award in the wedding-photojournalism print category, which was in contention for top 3 in its category.

It was a humbling honor to receive these award recognitions from my most talented peers. It was also very exhilarating to celebrate with several of my dear Colorado photography peers following the Awards Night presentation.
